Joachim Raff (1822–1882) was a German-Swiss composer and teacher of the Romantic era. He was a highly prolific composer, producing an extensive body of work that included symphonies, chamber music, operas, choral works, and piano compositions. Raff's music is often associated with the Romantic period, and he was influenced by composers such as Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. Symphony No. 3 Op.153, "Im Walde" (In the Forest) is one of Raff's best-known works and reflects his interest in nature and the Romantic idealization of the forest.
