Alexander Tcherepnin (1899–1977) was a Russian-born composer, pianist, and conductor. Tcherepnin wrote chamber music for various ensembles, including string quartets, piano trios, and wind ensembles. He also wrote a significant amount of piano music, including solo works, études, and chamber music with piano. His piano style often featured rhythmic vitality and colorful harmonies. Tcherepnin composed operas and ballets, drawing on both Western and Eastern themes. One of his well-known ballets is "The Chinese Drum," and his opera "Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy" gained recognition.
