Dieterich Buxtehude (1637/39-1707) was a prominent composer and organist of the Baroque period. He hailed from a family of musicians, and his father, Johannes Buxtehude, was also an organist and musician. Buxtehude received his early musical education from his father and possibly from other notable musicians of the time. Buxtehude is primarily recognized for his organ compositions, including preludes, toccatas, fugues, and chorale settings. His famous organ compositions include the Passacaglia in D minor, Praeludium in F-sharp minor, and Prelude in G minor.
