Leopold Mozart (1719–1787) was a German composer, conductor, teacher, and violinist of the Baroque era. He is best known as the father and early teacher of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the greatest composers in the history of Western classical music. Leopold Mozart composed a variety of works, including symphonies, serenades, chamber music, and sacred music. Leopold Mozart was also known for his treatise on violin playing titled "Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule" ("A Treatise on the Fundamental Principles of Violin Playing").
