Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770) was an Italian Baroque composer and violinist, renowned for his significant contributions to both fields. One of Tartini's most famous compositions is the Violin Sonata in G Minor, commonly known as the "Devil's Trill Sonata." Legend has it that Tartini dreamt that the Devil played the violin for him, inspiring the creation of this virtuosic piece. He discovered what is now known as the "Tartini tone" or "sum and difference tone," a phenomenon that occurs when two notes are played simultaneously, resulting in the perception of an additional tone.
