He is renowned for his melodic inventiveness, dramatic storytelling, and contributions to the operatic repertoire. His breakthrough opera, "Nabucco," established his reputation as a composer. Some of his popular opera compositions are "Aida", "La Traviata", "Otello", "Rigoletto" and "Falstaff". His famous chorus "Va, pensiero" from "Nabucco" became an unofficial Italian national anthem.
