Bela Bartok (1881-1945) was a Hungarian composer, pianist, and ethnomusicologist. He was known for his innovative compositions that combined folk music influences with modern classical techniques. He was a pioneer of "ethnomusicological" music, incorporating the melodies and rhythms he discovered during his fieldwork into his compositions. He and his colleague, Zoltán Kodály, collected and transcribed thousands of folk melodies, making a significant contribution to ethnomusicology. Some of his popular works are, "Allegro Barbaro", "Romanian Folk Dances" and "Mikrokosmos".
