Franz Schubert (1797-1828) was an Austrian composer known for his contributions to the classical and early Romantic periods of music. Despite his short life, he was prolific and left behind a vast body of work, including symphonies, chamber music, piano music, Lieder (German art songs), and operas. Some of his most famous lieder include "Erlkönig," "Gretchen am Spinnrade," and "Winterreise." Schubert composed a wealth of piano music, including sonatas, impromptus, moments musicaux, and the famous "Wanderer Fantasy." His piano works are known for their lyricism and their exploration of various moods and emotions.
