Karol Maciej Szymanowski (1882 – 1937) was a Polish composer and pianist. He is considered one of the most important Polish composers of the early 20th century, and his work is known for its fusion of Polish folk music with Western classical traditions. Szymanowski's compositional works include operas, ballets, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and songs. His most famous works include the opera Król Roger, the ballet Mandragora, the Symphony No. 3, the Violin Concerto No. 1, and the Song of the Night.
