Viktor Ullmann (1898-1944) was a talented composaer and conductor born in Austria-Hungary (now Poland). He was part of the early 20th-century classical music scene and left behind a significant body of work, despite his tragically short life. Ullmann's music is noteworthy not only for its quality but also for the circumstances under which it was created, as he was interned in the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II. Some of his significant compositions include his three string quartets, the opera "Der Kaiser von Atlantis," and a series of piano sonatas.
