Domenico Scarlatti (1685–1757) was an Italian composer known primarily for his keyboard sonatas, which are considered among the finest achievements of the Baroque era. Scarlatti composed over 500 keyboard sonatas, many of which are characterized by their brilliance, virtuosity, and innovative use of keyboard techniques. He also composed a variety of sacred music, including masses and oratorios. Notable sonatas include K.141 (known as "The Cat's Fugue"), K.380, K.9, K.32, and K.466.
